A GIFT THAT PAYS YOU:
Charitable gift annuitities pay donors a fixed guaranteed amount for life in return for their gift. The donor also receives an immediate income tax deduction. By meeting some of the donor's financial needs, gift annuities make it possible for our supporters to make larger gifts to the Marin Food Bank than they otherwise could.

LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES: Gifting an old or new whole life insurance policy with the Marin Community Food Bank as the beneficiary and owner offers you an immediate deduction for the premiums paid or the cash value of the policy at time of transfer, whichever is less. Gifts of insurance, like all other charitable gifts, pass to the Food Bank free of estate tax. For more information call Phil Lastreto at 415-883-1302 or phil@marinfoodbank.org.
RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS: Many people are unaware that IRA's and other retirement plans make excellent charitable gifts. Most retirement plans generate significant tax consequences when passed to anyone other than a spouse at death. They are often significantly reduced by income tax and, in some cases, by estate tax. Donating all or a portion of a tax-vulnerable retirement plan to the Food Bank is a tax-wise strategy for giving to a good cause while taking less from those you love. The plan passes tax-free to the Food Bank. For more information call Phil Lastreto at 415-883-1302 or phil@marinfoodbank.org.
LEGACY FUND: The Marin Community Food Bank Legacy Fund was established in 2002 to enable the Food Bank to operate in perpetuity. A contribution to the Legacy Fund–either a current gift or a bequest from your estate–is a wonderful way to make a lasting mark on your community. The Legacy Fund provides the Food Bank with matching funds for capital expansion, emergendy funds in case of earthquake or other natural disaster, and resources to ensure the uninterrupted distribution of food to those in need during difficult economic times. For more information call Phil Lastreto at 415-883-1302 or phil@marinfoodbank.org.
WORKPLACE CAMPAIGNS: Designate us to receive your donation through campaigns conducted in your workplace, in the five Bay Area counties between September and December of each year. You can designate the MARIN COMMUNITY FOOD BANK through any of the following campaigns!
DONATE REAL ESTATE: Call 883-1302 to speak with our Executive Director regarding real estate donations.
SORT AND BAG FOOD AT THE FOOD BANK: Adult volunteers who can commit to working 1 regular day per week for a minimum of 3 hours are needed all year long to sort and bag donated food. Let us know if you can help!
EVENTS: Click here to see the list of exciting Food Bank events.
VOLUNTEER FOR THE BROWN BAG PROGRAM: Adult volunteers who can commit to working 1 regular day per week for a minimum of 3 hours are needed to pack bags for low-income seniors.
DONATE QUALITY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS you no longer need to our resale shop, GoodStuff. Click to learn about our donation acceptance policy. Due to the cost of labor and fuel, we only pick up donations of household items and clothing when they are accompanied by a furniture donation. Please call 415-883-1302 to arrange for pick up.
Please help us by taking donations that will fit in your car directly to GoodStuff. Please call 415-456-4227 before going to the store to be sure that they have room for your donation. Donations are accepted at the back door on G Street during store hours.
BE A GOODSTUFF SHOPPER! You'll save money and help the Food Bank while making Marin a "greener" place to live!
FOOD DONATION PICK-UPS: From November 15 through December 31 drivers with covered pick-ups and/or vans are needed to pick up food donations from schools and other locations and deliver them to the Food Bank. This is a great opportunity to work with one of your friends.
ADOPT-A-BARREL: From November 15 through December 31 grocery stores and other businesses hold on-going food drives. We need people to adopt one of the food collection barrels, which means checking the barrel daily, emptying it when necessary, and bringing the food to the Food Bank.
ORGANIZE A FOOD DRIVE at your place of worship, civic group, school, business or neighborhood. The need for food goes on all year. We furnish posters, collection containers, a list of the most needed food items and take home bags for individuals to fill. On-going food drives are great and give us a constant source of food supplies.
CONTACT YOUR FRIENDS IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY ON OUR BEHALF. Ask them to donate any excess inventory of food or household products to Marin Food Bank. Our county has very few food brokers, suppliers, wholesalers or manufacturers and your contacts can be a tremendous help to us in serving those in need in Marin. If you have questions concerning this, call 415-883-1302 and speak to the Executive Director.
PLANT A ROW FOR US IN YOUR GARDEN! Quality, fresh produce in the peak of freshness is always needed at the Food Bank. In consideration of the folks we're trying to help, please bring in your zucchini, etc., before it weighs ten pounds!
DONATE YOUR PAPER GROCERY BAGS: We use 5000 bags per month for our programs, so every donation counts!
DECORATE BROWN PAPER GROCERY BAGS for food distribution to seniors, Compassion in Action clients and shut-ins. This is a great project for school children! Decorated bags are a hit with food recipients. We can use 500 every month. Please do not decorate with watercolor or chalk that may come off on someone's clothing when they are carrying their food home. Call 415-883-1302 if you have any questions.
